Waves / wave-like phenomena are present everywhere and are very important. Additionally, they are essential for science and technology. In this course a general introduction to all wave-like phenomena will be given. Electromagnetic/optic waves will be studied with more detail, however, analogies with mechanical scenarios, such as sound and shear waves, will be also mentioned.
Things to learn:
- the basics of waves/wave-like phenomena,
- how to model them correctly (mathematically and numerically),
- when it is important to use them or when they can be substituted by simpler models.
Note: physical intuition and numerical aspects will be highlighted.
